Transfer deadline day, signings and departures

I wrote about Marcus Rashford at the weekend on Footballocracy, essentially saying his future is determined by his actions. If he comes in and plays to his potential and delivers, he'll win and it will Manchester United that are broken. If he doesn't and whatever we've been led to believe turns out to be true, we've paid his salary for five months.

It's a low risk bet for us and it's whatever Marcus Rashford wants it to be. I hope he wants to show the world he wasn't the problem at Manchester United. We'll see soon enough, but I'm optimistic and he has it in him.

That said, this post is mostly about today and there will be, I'm convinced, one or two more players announced and I suspect loan deals. I think 'loan deal' is going to be the trending tag on X today and we're going to hear it a lot. I think I'll start streaming Sky Sports News to one of the screens in the office directly after I post this.

But it's not only about today, it's also the month in general.

We've signed Donyell Malen and Andrés García this month. We've also let Diego Carlos, Jaden Philogene and Jhon Duran leave the Club and Emi is out on loan in Germany for the rest of the season. Some others have gone on loan too, but they're not first team and I struggle with names. I wouldn't be surprised if another player or two went out on loan today also.

But the story of the day I suspect is going to be Marco Asensio coming in and maybe even Leon Bailey leaving .. we'll see. But I think there is a name not mentioned also that may be coming in and I think that will be a central defender.

Other than that, I don't think there will be that many surprises and I think we should also be happy with the business done. Now to bed them in.
