Palace tonight, Spurs at the weekend and 20 years of the blog

Morning all. Mostly. Not everyone is where I am or where you are, so it might not be morning when someone reads this. It could be afternoon or maybe even evening. So when I write I'm looking forward to the match this evening, it's actually only my evening, it could be very early morning for you.

And it depends when you read it! No, I've not run out of things to write, but I do feel like we're getting close. But that happens after 20 years.

And in case you didn't know, the blog is 20 years old this year. It's a long time and we don't have all the content from then, that was before I knew what I was really doing and some of it was lost. But I did manage to copy and paste some content from back then. Still, it feels like a celebration is needed.

But that again is not what this post is about. And it's not about the weekend either because Bournemouth felt like a kick in the gut and it's not something I want to write about. What I will say is it felt like a little more than just a kick int he gut when you consider we are in fourth, but seventh place are just two points behind us.

It feels like they are creeping up, that said we're on the same points as Arsenal in third and what I'm really trying to say is the Spurs match on Sunday is very important. But more on that in a few days.

Palace in the League Cup

Tonight is also big. But every match is as has been written many many times of late. But winning tonight, I think, takes us through to the quarter finals. And we all know what football is about and it's silverware so this tournament is an important one and I'd expect to see some changes tonight.

And by changes, I mean I expect to see some of the players that have sat on the bench and not participated that much or at all, to be starting. You see, this is an important match, but arguably it's more important to finish in the top four again this season. I'd sacrifice silverware this season if it meant top four again, just this once.

And by this I mean, I suspect it will be easier the third season. I think this season is going to be harder than last season to finish top four, but it's probably equally as important.

So, tough game tonight, probably with changes and if that impacts the result, it's not so bad, as long as that goes to support us beating Spurs at the weekend. Lose tonight with changes and we lose at the weekend and you've got to question if changes were needed tonight.

But, all that written, if I could go back in time to go forward and get those magic numbers, I'd not be here writing this, I'd be on a beach somewhere reading a book and building sandcastles. Until tonight chaps and chapesses, I must rest. I think.
