Maccabi Tel Aviv at Villa Park and that match last weekend

I don't often write that we're going to win a match and I didn't last weekend, but I thought we had a good chance. Liverpool are not the Liverpool they were under Klopp and they were on a horrible run. But it just wasn't our day.

And those days happen. They will happen again for us this season and it's tough to get right every time.

So we take it on the chin and move forward. But there are only so many times you can take it on the chin and stand up again. Fortunately for us, we don't get hit on that chin that often and we have a manager that knows how to dance.

Trust me he's dancing in his head on a very regular basis. And tonight, it's a special dance, one of those old school discos where there is a slow song at the end. And yes, showing my age now.

It's European football and it's Maccabi Tel Aviv. And all I can tell you about them is that they are currently second in their domestic league having played nine games with a goal difference of plus nineteen.

That tells me the standard is very poor or they're a team on fire. That the team above them has a goal difference of one less having scored one more, makes me think it's the league. That I see they only have one point from the three games they've played in Europe this season sort of confirms it.

That doesn't mean tonight is going to be a walk in the park. It's a disco and we don't know when the slow dance is coming or what the night holds for sure. But, we are going with our best pants on and we are feeling lucky.

I'll be back a little later, full of joy and optimism.
