I don't know where to begin so I'll start with something quite controversial; we need The Clowns in this league. Six points every season is the perfect gift and they seem to want to give it every season now. It's like the toll the have to pay to be in this league and they hand it over willingly.
Maybe it isn't controversial and I am sure we will have a bad day soon, although we had a pretty awful day yesterday and we still won - it was like we couldn't give it away and Friedel had more to do yesterday than I remember having him to do in any game this season - it just goes to show we couldn't give it away against them.
I don't want to go on about The Clowns as all publicity is basically that, publicity, but let's just take a moment today, if you meet a Clown, to say thanks. Six points is the perfect gift and we should be able to accept this gift every season.
James Milner: Young Player of the Year
He beat Fabregas and Rooney to the award and yes, this is the same one that Webcam won last year and yes, we will all hope his next season doesn't end up like the one Webcam has had this time out and I actually don't think it will and anyway, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan are all interested in Webcam now and you never know, they might also be interested in Milly this time next season if he has an average season too.
Back to Milly and since he has gone into the middle of the field he has gone from someone that wouldn't have got into my side to the first name down and when that happens - a player goes from nothing to something nearly irreplaceable, then stand up Mr Milner and take the applause, you deserve it.
Team of the Season
Moving on and we are going to include Milly in this, but Ricardo Dunne gets a mention today too, because he got into the team of the season. This is, as is the player of the year award, a special award, as it is voted for by other players and if you win it or get in, it is basically a nod from your word colleagues.
Well, Milly won the award and got into the team of the year, as did Dunne. The full team is below.
- Joe Hart, The Clowns
- Branislav Ivanovic, Chelsea
- Richard Dunne, Aston Villa
- Thomas Vermaelen, Arsenal
- Patrice Evra, Manchester United
- Antonio Valencia, Manchester United
- James Milner, Aston Villa
- Darren Fletcher, Manchester United
- Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal
- Didier Drogba, Chelsea
- Wayne Rooney, Manchester United
It's nice and now as long as results go our way, we will also finish fifth. Fifth is progress and progress is good. Progress means more money this summer because the manager will have proven more money and he can progress. More money means I think we can challenge for third nest season.
Monday Morning Rumours
This is from yesterday, but I'm putting it down today, because it is a bit of speculation. Apparently, according to one national rag yesterday, Martin O'Neill is interested in signing Robbie Keane, Kevin Doyle, Aiden McGeady and Stephen Ireland.
He can be interested in one of those, maybe two - but all four would be too much and actually it doesn't matter because we all know O'Neill doesn't know the transfer window opens in two weeks. He think it opens in August. He won't be planning now.
