Transfer window open, rumours and Chelsea

So, it turns out that Gueida Fofana probably won't be joining us and if we're to take what has been said as the truth, we are led to believe that the player wanted too much money.

It is unfortunate, as I think it was pretty clear the lad is talented, I just think he should be more interested in making a name for himself and not thinking he already had because he captained an U19 tournament winning team and because he's playing football in the French second tier.

January rumours

But, a nineteen year old midfielder was probably just a nice thing to have, what we really need is a play maker and a striker and things could be happening. The big rumour of the day is that we might have spoken to Manchester City about the availability of Emmanuel Adebayor.

Now, Adebayor coming would be a fantastic signing and I'd expect him to walk straight into the side and push Gabby to the bench, but I think Gabby should be benched anyway and not just because he doesn't seem to know where the goal is at the moment.

It appears that the manager has asked Gabby to bulk down and recent comments from Gabby suggest he has said no. Now, if that is true, he should be dropped for that alone, in fact it might even be a sackable offence, but if it isn't and he isn't, he should still be dropped based on goals scored this season. Not nice, but sometimes you need to be cruel to be kind and for £50k a week guaranteed for four years - Gabby should be doing exactly what he is told by the manager, to the letter.

Getting Adebayor for the rest of the season would be a surprise, but it would also demonstrate that the manager can get that type of player and that type of player would score goals and would make a difference.

Curtis Davies

But, there is more speculation than Adebayor, although I'd be more than happy with just that happening. First up is we might be using Curtis Davies, that player we paid £10,000,000 for, as a sweetener to get our hands on Blackburn central defender Christopher Samba, who wants out of Blackburn.

Brad Guzan

I'm reading that little Brad has joined Hull on loan and might even be playing today against Leicester. It is only for a month, but if it is true, you've got to hope nothing happens to big Brad or the manager gets a keeper in very quickly. But, I'm not sure if this has gone through yet.

Omar Cummings

Last bit of speculation, even though I think I'm forgetting something is that Omar Cummings is coming to join us for a few weeks until the MLS season starts again. There, it is written. I'm not expecting much from him, but I was wrong once before.

Aston Villa at Chelsea

Right, big match tomorrow. We will open up early and have all the team news and anything else we find, but we need a performance with fight and desire. We might get it. Talk is, Webcam and Heskey are back and say what you want, they both run and they can both make something happen. You never know.

Transfer window is open and happy new year
