The club have done it. Not sure if it's Lerner or Fox, but it was inevitable and Tim Sherwood has gone. It was never the right decision to employ him in the first place, but hopefully now the club can move forward by appointing a proper Football Club manager.
Ray Wilkins, first-team coach Mark Robson and performance analyst Seamus Brady have also left.
But you have to hope that the club started looking for the new manager weeks ago and this isn't just because of yesterday. You have to hope it's a happy coincidence - new manager found and Aston Villa lose again.
It would be nice to believe everything is lined up and the club were working behind the scenes. It's possible, but we'd all be surprised.
And the only man the club should be wanting to bring in is David Moyes. Let me stress; proper Football Club manager.
There are no other names of managers that should be considered at the moment. This is an opportunity for Aston Villa and one they must act upon.
Tim Sherwood has gone. Tom Fox has hopefully learnt a lesson and the next appointment will say a lot. For now, Kevin MacDonald is taking care of football business. Good luck, again, Kevin.
