Swansea at the weekend, confidence, pundits and in other news

Okay, we are in the week that we play football again, so we can turn our focus away from internationals to Swansea and it will be an interesting match because right now, they are flying.

And by flying I mean they are second in the table with the best goal difference in the league. And I know the table means very little right now, Liverpool were top and West Brom third after three games last season, but it does give them confidence.

You see, after a fairly impressive season last time out, they are having another fairly impressive season this time and they are much better suited to the league this season and ask a football pundit about Swansea today and they have nothing but praise for them.

Flip that and ask a football pundit about us and it isn't inspiring, but just like the league table will all change around over the next few weeks, I have a feeling what pundits say about us will too and if you take the Newcastle match as a barometer, it might not be that long away.

But it wasn't about the result against Newcastle, it was very much the performance. If we can replicate that at the weekend, we will win. I know that is a bold statement, but we went up against a side full of confidence and at home and were actually unlucky not to win.

In other news

The local press have dug up some dirt on new signing Christian Benteke who was involved in something late last year that means he was questioned by the police. I don't think this is anything to be concerned about, I really don't, so can we talk about it and move on?

Ciaran Clark is also a little bemused at not getting a game for Ireland. He was sold the big picture before committing but now that he has, there is little interest in giving him a game. He is talking about working hard for us, hoping that that will be enough and I say, well done lad, because that is all we can hope.

I've missed out loads, I know, but that is it from me for now, I'm just glad there is football this weekend.
