Another week has passed and it's not as if you can't say not much has happened since the last post. But you'll be pleased to know that as of next week I'm only really working half days for two months, so there will be more posts coming.
I think I should explain that first though, because it's a nice story. In Sweden, a lot of people get a month off in the summer. But we can't really do that, because a lot of our customers are not in Sweden. Some in the office will take July or August off, but me, I essentially work three hours a day for the next two months. It's nice here.
Anyway, back to the football and things are moving at a nice pace. Gardner has joined The Clowns on a permanent deal while we get Jota in return. Now, you'll not be surprised to learn that I don't think anyone from that club is good enough to play for us and that if a player picks that club, they are setting their aspirations at that level. But Dean Smith had him at Brentford and clearly likes him.
And Dean Smith can do no wrong. Gardner heading in the other direction though, sums it all up for me. I was a huge Gardner fan. Huge. But it's about not moving home, it's about him not wanting to challenge himself. He picked the easy option. Ultimately, that is why it never worked for him at Aston Villa. But he's got the cash in the bank and doesn't have to work a proper day in his life.
But that isn't all that has happened since I was gone. El Ghazi has signed and we've also brought in Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge. Now we all know what El Ghazi offers, but not many of us know much about Wesley.
And for these reasons, next season is going to be interesting for both of these players as for both of them, it's a step up and platform to perform and show the world what they are capable of.
Both have the ability and talent, but the Premier League is an unforgiving stage. Many players have had the opportunity and many players have failed to shine, but gone on to do it somewhere else. It's not the best League in the world for nothing.
And there are more rumours of more players. I think the next couple of weeks are going to be very interesting. Stay turned and I'll be back more often soon.
