Paul Lambert sacked as Aston Villa manager

It's true, he's gone and even though the CEO backed him and told us all that we didn't know what we were talking about, Paul Lambert has been sacked as manager of Aston Villa. And they've done it, hopefully in time to save the season.

And I say save the season, but what I really mean is save a lot more than that. But this isn't over as we've got to get a new man in quickly, because we need five wins from the remaining games to stay up and as I write this, we're 19th in the table.

But I still can't believe it's taken this long. I still can't believe he was given a new contract earlier this season. I still can't believe the CEO would come out and tell us we don't know what we're talking about and then a couple of weeks later swallow his pride and admit that it's him that doesn't know what's going on.

When things aren't going well, fans bay for that type of blood. That's not the way that I or the owner are going to make a decision. It's a false narrative.

And now the hunt is on for a new manager. I fancy it will be another young manger with something to prove but I just hope that it's the right one. We've got the players, we now just need the manager to get them playing the way that wins us games.

On a side note, it's never nice when someone gets fired, even if they deserve it in the sense that they're not producing the results. He was manager of Aston Villa and for that he deserves our respect. It's not his fault our Club was too big for him or he didn't have the necessary skills to make it work.
