Jordan Ayew speaks, breaking news, Crespo and more

When Paul Lambert first became the manager and he signed players, they used to say that after speaking with him, they wanted to sign. But when Paul Lambert was manager, the club never published pictures of players making heart signs around the club badge. Maybe, this is just PR gone too far or maybe it's the club thinking after the Delph fiasco, there is nothing they can't publish now.

Anyway, the player signed and he said those things about the manager and he made the heart sign out of his hands around the club badge. It really doesn't get any better.

But there are more players coming and as I wrote yesterday it worries me a bit but just as much as it worries me, there is an argument for needing more players. Or more winners. So you can say what you want, but it's going to be an interesting season.

And seeing as I'm saying it's going to be an interesting season but that's just me, it would be nice if below some of you made your predictions about next season. And is it just me that worries about all the new players or do you have faith that Tim Sherwood can get all these players to gel and to play the right way from the kick off. I mean, what happens if we get spanked at Bournemouth?

Is Tim really the man and if you think he is, what has he done to make you think that way?

I heart Aston Villa

Speculated players

I call this part 'speculated' players because it's just names and until the club confirm it with the 'breaking news' headline, it's just speculation, even if some of it appears to be very close, and here they are.

First up is Cordoba defender Jose Angel Crespo and it's coming from Cordoba via the BBC. Apparently he was at Bodymoor yesterday for a medical so expect the news to break today. But it doesn't end, there is more.

The next one is Jordan Veretout and is anyone else seeing a trend here and I don't just mean with players from France? He's 22 years old and plays for Nantes and has represented France at all levels apart from the senior squad, but sources close to France say that might happen quite soon.

Then there is the load deal for Emmanuel Adebayor which by all accounts, is going to get done very soon too, but that's not it, there is also talk of a Derby midfielder and maybe even another player from France, Jordan Jordan, but that really is just paper talk.

But it's not just about players coming in, there is growing speculation that more players are about to leave including Charles N'Zogbia and Aly Cissokho (this one is a surprise as he's already confirmed French) but again, this is just paper talk. But add to that, there is also speculation around Baker. And you'll all know that I'm a big fan of Baker (much like Clark) and don't think he's the type of player we should be getting rid of - he's the type of player that you know will put his body on the line and there is a value in having that on the bench.

But it's mostly just speculation. But I have a feeling, it's not going to end with the names and numbers above. I think Tim and Tom are serious about spending money this window, because it could be the only one they get. Until tomorrow, expect breaking news soon.

Song of the day
