The problem with only seeing the goals is you don't see the game. I've heard Barry Bannan, Ciaran Clark, Carlos Cuellar, Emile Heskey and Ashley Young were all excellent, but I just don't know with any certainty, so it is hard for me today to write with any confidence on the match.
However, there was a stage last night that Emile Heskey was one of the most talked about subjects on Twitter, so he must have done something right and I do have things I can write about, so I am hoping that what I have written above about certain players is true, because it would be nice if it was.
What I can tell you is either Gerard Houllier is lying to us when he says he hasn't signed his contract or a Director of the club is lying to me. You see, the day before yesterday, Gerard Houllier told a number of people from the press that he hadn't signed his contract and nine days ago a Director of the club told me he had.
Yesterday, that same Director also confirmed that what he told me eight days previously was the truth then and the truth now and he also suggested that the quotes from Gerard Houllier were out of date (even though they came from the day before).
So, unless the manager is living in cloud cuckoo land and has actually signed a contract or the Director at the club is lying to me. Either way, it raises suspicions; one saying one thing while the other has already said something else.
And I know a contract probably doesn't really matter. I'm not that concerned about that. It is the lying that bothers me. But, we will leave this for now, to some quotes and team news from Blackburn and the man of the match vote.
Blackburn quotes
Gerard Houllier
I was not disappointed by the effort and application [in the first half], I was just disappointed by the fact we didn't seem to be free. There was no flow in our game, no fluency, but I changed the system in the second half and I thought it suited the players more. I did not feel down at half-time. I have seen the team a bit in training and I thought it was a matter of getting ourselves into the game.
Don't forget, practically half the team which played against Bolton didn't play in this one, which means that competition for places is good. We could have let our heads go down because they were not playing well, they were one-down. To be fair, apart from the volley which was good, they were not that dangerous.
We were controlling defensively. Offensively we were out of sorts. I know there are things we definitely need to improve on very quickly. I told them 'you are one-down, you need to try something, we want you to take more risks and play forward quicker'. Some of the players played backwards too often when they could have played it forward.

Man of the Match
Believe it or not, but Emile Heskey is man of the match and because of that momentous news, we are calling today, Emile Heskey fact day.
I'll start - children all over the world wear Ronaldo t-shirts. Ronaldo wears Emile Heskey t-shirts.
