Classic Carbone as Aston Villa lose in the final

Anyone who was there for the Midland Masters on Saturday night is probably still salivating over the performance of Benito Carbone. The unexpected addition to the Villa Legends of Taylor, Draper and 'little' Alan Wright was the small Italian.

Benito, might have only spent about eight months on loan to the Villa but we obviously won his heart. On Saturday he was simply sensational.

For those who missed this great night we somehow lost in the final to Wolves, but Carbone scored seven quite brilliant goals on the way and won every award going.

His control, passing and finishing was in a league way above anybody else in the tournament. It was clear he could still play the game and I was interested to learn that he is still playing in Serie B.

Perhaps Martin should take a look because Benito is still class. Just a pity that like the 2000 FA Cup Benny again failed to deliver in the final.

A big pat on the back to Ian Taylor for getting Carbone to play for the Villa at the NIA.
