Aston Villa win with goals from Gestede and Grealish and the season starts now

My son had a football tournament today and instead of watching or listening to the game, I followed on social media every few minutes. Let me be clear, had I better internet access in the field, I would have been in the car watching or listening, but alas it was not to be.

And it would be easy to say it was only Rotherham, but it was never really about who we were playing today, it was about taking the opportunity and getting three points. Getting three points any way would have been a great result, but getting it in the way we did, with Gestede getting two and Grealish scoring in front of the Holte End, made it better for me and I imagine every one else.

It was better than just winning.

And I've not even seen the highlights yet, but I still believe it was a great performance just from the reactions I was seeing on Twitter. And by all accounts on social media it was. So that is a double happy for me. And you know what, there aren't many better feelings than an Aston Villa win.

I'm not going to write much more just now, I'm going to open a bottle of wine and wait for the highlights later. I'm looking forward to it and I'm not going to get carried away, but this is a massive confidence boost. I just hope we take it in our stride and use it on Tuesday against Huddersfield.

And if you didn't know, Huddersfield won at Newcastle today. Newcastle are bottom of the table too, which is well, you decide what that is.
