I've thought and written for a while that I don't think we will fall into the bottom three and while results didn't go exactly how we would have liked, Wigan beating Newcastle and Bolton drawing with Sunderland, it could have been worse, if not by much and it is getting closer.
But we are still not safe from falling into one of those places and with two games to go, it really does look like we are going to need to hope that results do go for us. Again, we hope the footballing Gods look kindly on us, like they did today.
The footballing Gods
West Brom could have had a penalty today when Alan Hutton raised his arm to deflect the ball out for a corner, while standing in the penalty box. The referee and linesman didn't see it, which baffles me as he was staring right at it, but maybe it is the Gods and maybe they want us to stay up.
Maybe they are just making us sweat. Maybe. You never know. I have to look for some rational as to why this manager and our current CEO are still in a job. It just amazes me. But pretty much everything Lerner has done since coming in has surprised me.
And McLeish knows he is gone. He hardly left the bench today and looked lost. What I don't understand is why we keep him on? Surely it is in the interests of Aston Villa Football Club for him to be removed and the CEO to step down?
We needed a win from the last three games and that is one chance gone. This manager doesn't know how to win and with only two more chances, it doesn't make those much easier for whoever steps in.
Say goodnight Alex
We drew again. We are going to have the worst ever season at home and we go into the final two games of the season not knowing our fate. Let us just hope and pray that result go for us tomorrow. It really could have only been worse today had we lost and Bolton won, so thank your lucky stars we have a manager that plays not to lose.
Before I go, please vote for your man of the match. I'm going Cuellar because a diving header on the line saved us from losing. But that is just me.
