I don't know how to sugar coat this. We lost to a team that showed us how to play football today and you know what, it wasn't high tempo from them, it was keep the ball and score.
I mention high tempo, because that is what our manager talks about and you know what; it isn't about high tempo football and I'll tell you what it is about, it's about keeping the ball and making space and passing. It isn't about getting the ball into the box as quickly as possible.
High tempo means you give them the chance to get the ball back. That isn't football these days. But there are positives.
First; this is early in the season and the manager needs time. Second, we scored a goal playing with ten men against eleven. Third, we are trying to keep the ball on the ground which suggests we are working on the football and that in itself takes time, but if we are working on it, it will get better.
But, the result remains. We lost, at home and it was the managers first game at Villa Park. It was also a lesson.
And this is where I leave it now because I need food and I need to watch this game again before I give a real opinion, but I will say this; search the blog for my views on Lambert, it is important.
But absolutely more important than that are my views on Lerner and I hope you appreciate that this isn't a new thing, it was from day one.
