Aston Villa 0 Sunderland 0: A bit of class from Gardner too

Some things are meant to be. One point at Villa Park is turning into exactly that thing and are you surprised? No. You're not. But the club are happy and Randy Lerner has just taken another dump on Villa Park.

We started well though. For the first ten minutes or so it was all us. But that was just early confidence and we always start well, regardless of manager. The thing is, a game is more than ten minutes.

But this isn't Scotland. It also isn't the Championship. In those leagues you can play like this. In those leagues this is how you play.

But the attendance was good. Lerner will be happy with that, when he has finished his dump and apart from that there was little else. The football was poor.

Craig Gardner

But before I leave this post, a hat tip to Craig Gardner. He got sent off with a minute or two to go after picking up a second yellow card and as he was leaving, he took off his shirt and under it he had a support Stan t-shirt.

He should never have said what he said when he left, but I applaud what he did. We all know he is Villa deep down; you don't spend the amount of time he did at a club and not support the club, but these days you just have to say what you have to say.

What he did was a bit of class and he didn't have to do it. Well done Craig, but you're still silly for what you said, but you know you can fix that.
