Raising money for Acorns by running the Birmingham half marathon

Hi everyone. My name is Craig and I want some help in raising some money for Acorns. Many of you have seen the logo on our great shirt but you may not know all the work that goes on behind the scenes, so I'm going to tell you a little then ask you not to buy your paper today.

Acorns was set up in 1983 to offer a network of care to life limited children (unlikely to reach adulthood) and support for their families across the heart of England.

There are three hospices, situated in Birmingham, Walsall, and Worcester, and there is also a community team that offers support to families in their homes, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and they have helped over 1200 families in the last 18 years.

As we all know, our great football club do a lot for the charity by sponsoring them, organising events and offering extra funding, but they still need a lot of help. It currently costs £6 million a year to support the families, who are not charged for the services that the charity provide.

It costs £4500 a day to run each hospice and I want to do my very small bit to help.

I am not the most athletic person in the world, but this year I have decided to run the Birmingham Half Marathon for this worthy cause, and I was just after a little bit of support to help the charity. All they have asked me to raise is £45. So far I have raised £50, and my total aim is to get over £150.

If every blogger on here donated 50p, that would help an awful lot, and you wouldn't even notice the weight out of your pocket. Like I said, the cost of your newspaper today.

The link to sponsor me is here and if you are in the UK, your 50p gets added too. Thanks for reading and many thanks for your 50p if you decide to sponsor me.
