Things have felt a lot better the last couple of days after beating Brentford and dare I say it, but it will be all for nothing if we don't get three points against Southampton tomorrow.
And that's the harsh reality of this League and I don't think it gets written enough but I think we all understand it. But the media do a great job of stirring things up. At the start of the season, I think most would have predicted Manchester City to win the League and after a few games this season, the media moved to Arsenal and now they're all suggesting it's going to be Liverpool.
I don't think it will be long before they say Chelsea are going to win it and we're only 40% of the way through the season. Things change so quickly but really only from a media perspective. Nobody can predict who is going to win the League before Christmas and I'm not going to commit to Manchester City until at least February.
And I might even change my mind then, but today they are just nine points behind the leaders, I find it hard to pick another side, but I'm just one of those simple people. And as a simple person I see the simple things and I'm not sure if this is a quality or burden.
And as of today, we are seven points and four places worse off than last season but there are 24 games left, so we can turn it around, but it will be hard. But we're having fun and what a time to be an Aston Villa fan. And if we know all these simple things, why should we let it get us down.
I think we should enjoy the ride for the rest of the season and see where it takes us. We're in the Champions League and four points off 4th with 24 games to go. I can't believe I'm writing this. We're literally within touching distance and some people were having kittens.
I'll be back tomorrow but lets just take one game at a time and see where we end up. I might take this approach with my drinks tonight. I think that's the future.
