Sheffield United 1 Aston Villa 3: A win is a win, but it was a game of two halves

Well, that is nice isn't it. A win. Three points on the board. Okay, maybe not three points, but our name in the hat for the fourth round of the FA Cup and we saw glimpses today of what it could be like.

A debut goal for Kyle Walker, a volley from Marc Albrighton and a powerful shot from Petrov on the edge of the box is how we won it, but it really was a game of two halves.

The first half was mostly all us, the second was mostly all Sheffield United, but I suspect it was our doing. We say back and invited pressure and with our defence, I'm not so sure that is the right thing to do.

But we won. We are in the next round of the FA Cup - it is all good. Well, actually, it isn't. Ashley Young picked up two yellow cards and was sent off. I'm fairly sure this means he will miss the next match. On the bright side, I'm fairly sure it will mean Marc Albrighton plays and it will mean more to him than it does Ashley.

Man of the Match

At the end of the day

A win is a win and you have to be happy with that. There is still some work clearly needed, but we do seem to be getting there. Kyle Walker looked okay and Bannan was very good again too and I'm once again surprised he was substituted.

Now we wait for the new players to come. Now we find out exactly how supportive the club are going to be towards our manager. The manager they picked.
